With a picturesque sotting in tlio court of King Louis XI. of I'Yanoe, Rudolph Kriinl's outstanding produetiou, "Tlio Vagabond King," will lie presented by tlio Auckland Amateur Operatic Society at, His Majesty's Theatre on August .*>. Tlio story deals with the attempt by a rascally scholar to rule France for one day and the opera is notable for the beauty of its music. The main roles will bo portrayed by a strong ca.-t of local artists including Sybil l'hilliftps, Krnest Snell, Norton Hammond and Winifred Clements.
