INCREASE IN ENGLAND EFFECT OF RECENT BILL VISITING JUDGE'S COMMENT "The passing of Mr. A. P. Herbert s hill has led to a largo increase in the number of divorce cases in England, ' said Mr. Justice Boyce, of Sydney, who arrived by the Rangitata yesterday after a holiday in England and on the Continent. Mr. Justice Boyce, who is accompanied by his wile and daughter, left later for Rotorua, and will complete his trip to Sydney by the Awatea next week.

"By courtesy of Sir Boyd Merriman, president of the probate and matrilnonial jurisdiction in England, 1 snt on the Bench with Mr. Justice Bucknill, one of the divorce Judges, for ]);irt of a morning, Mr. Justice Boyce continued. '•Tlie increase in divorces was immediately apparent after Mr. Herbert's bill was passed, as far as I could ascertain. "Some people in England seem to think that the country has .none beyond its limit in granting divorces, but even now in many ways the relief is not as liberal as in New Zealand or some parts of Australia, for instance New South Wales." he said. "It is true that iu New South Wales we do not admit insanity over a period as a ground for divorce. It was a matter of irrent controversy in New South A\ ales some vears ago, but 110 relief has been granted. That is one of the main features of Mr. Herbert's measure."
