ROXY AND TIVOLI THEATRES A splendid programme, comprising "Might jut > Nowhere" ami "The •Sheik Stops Out," is to hp shown at the Jioxy and 'l'ivoli Theatres to-day. \\ lion jlO brings Ins transport aeroplane into the aerodrome in a heavy fog and against orders, Kill Kellogg (Dick Ptircell) is dismissed in "(''light into Nowhere." In an exploration flight in South America Kellogg crashes near a lost city inhabited by a tribe of lncan origin. Ho is nursed back to health by 1,-Ana, daughter of a white man who liad penetrated the country, and marries the girl. Horno and his closest triend, Ike .Matthews (James Burke), in search of the lost flier, ultimately find their way to the city, where tliey are cordially welcomed by the Inca chief. When Horno finds that Kellogg has married a native he threatens to leave the pilot ill tho lost city, but Kellogg pleads to be taken home and Horno finally agrees. The film has a sudden and dramatic ending that lends a poignant touch to an excellent production. Kanion Novarro give*; a good performance at Ahmed Hen Nesib in the romantic film "The Sheik Steps Out." .Novarro becomes intrigued with a young American girl, played by l.ola Lane, who i« affianced to Kobert Cooie, who takes the lole of a lord. She engages Novarro, disguised as a guide, to take hor ami her entourage into the desert to the sheik's camp, where she may select the fastest horse. He arranges with his tribesmen to stage a fake attack en the caravan so that, lie may rescue the spoiled American girl and ride away with her into the desert. Miss lane ultimately realises that she is in love with the handsome Arab and there is nothing for her to do but run away. She steals two horses and sets out across the desert alone. When she reaches a town she learns that the guide she had engaged was really the sheik and feels herself the victim of a colossal joke. She returns to Paris to marry her fiance, but the daring sheik appears in time to disrupt the marriage ceremony and carry her off.

CIVIC THEATRE Excellent performances are given by William Powell and Annabella in the 20th Century Fox production "The Baroness ami the Butler," which will continue its successful season at tho Civic Theatre to-day. The supporting cast includes Henry Stephenson, Helen "West ley ami Edward G. Broniberg. Samuel Goldwyn's outstanding production "The Goldwyn Follies" will he presented to patrons of the Civic Theatre on Friday. This film contains a fine cast, including such well-known personalities of the screen, vaudeville and radio as Adolphe Menjou, the Hit/. Brothers. the ventriloquist Edgar Bergen and his doll, Charlie McCarthy, and Kenny Baker. A ieature of the picture is the delicate, imaginative use of colour, the film being produced entirelv in technicolour.

REGENT THEATRE The smart comedy ''Romance For Three"' continues a season at the Regent Theatre to-day. This film is marked by the exceptional cast, which includes Frank Morgan, Robert Young. Florence Rice. Mary Astor. Edna MasOliver. Reginald Owen, Herman Bing nnd Henry Hull. Fast and witty dialogue. coupled with many hilarious situations, makes this comedy splendid entertainment. The supporting programme includes one of the "Our Gang" series, a musical. "Snow Gets in Your Eyes." the novelty "Stranger Than Fiction." an historical mystery film, "The Face Behind the Mask," and'a British Paramount newsreel. ST. JAMES' THEATRE A transcontinental aeroplane flight and a military machine diving to its destruction are among the many spectacular scenes in the thrilling MetroGoldw vn-Mayer drama "Test IMot. _ which' will be shown at St. James Theatre to-day. An outstanding performance is given by ( lark Gable as a daring pilot, .Jim Lane, who tests newlv-launehed aeroplanes to prove their airworthiness, whde the other main roles are capably portrayed by Mvrna Lnr and Spencer Tracy. An entertaining associate programme will also be presented.

STRAND THEATRE Beautiful -loan Bennett displays exceptional talent in the exciting romance, "I Mot My Love Again, which is to he shown at the Strand Theatre to-da.v. The powerful story tells of a college romance which was shattered when the girl met a worthless novelist, with whom she eloped to Paris. He is killed in a drunken duel and she returns to her country to meet and wed her first love. Henry Fonda gives a convincing performance in the leading male role. MAYFAIR THEATRE The mystery man of the novel _by Leslie Charteris, "The Saint in New York," comes to life in the film of that name, which is to he shown today at the Mayfair Theatre. In this first picture of a new series, Louis Hayward takes the part of Simon Templar, "The Snint." and the female lead is filled hv Kav Sutton. The mysterycomed.v! "This Marriage Business," is the associate feature. STATE THEATRE Amusing performances are given by William Powell ami Myrna Lov in the bright comedv "Double A\ eilding." which heads the interesting programme to-night at the Slate Theatre, .lohn Beat and Florence I'ico are also included in the cast.

BERKELEY, MISSION BAY A clever performance is given by the versatile child actress Shirley Temple in the enjoyable production " Heidi of the Alps," which will be shown to-night at the Berkeley Theatre, .Mission Bay. Brown gives an amusing performance in the first attraction as an amateur detective who becomes involved in a fend with gangsters after he lias set out to solve a jewel rohhery mystery. Don Bradman, the famous Australian cricketer, appears in the interesting sporting film "How L Play Cricket. - ' EMBASSY THEATRE The outstanding film dealing with slum life in New York, "Dead End." will be shown to-day at the Embassy Theatre. Kxcellent performances nro given by the strong cast, which includes Joel MeCrea. Slvvia Sidney and Humphrey Bogart. Hun of the most stirring dramas that has been produced for some time, "Of Human Hearts," will commence a season at the Kmbnssy Theatre to-morrow. The main roles are portrayed hy Walter Huston. Beulali Bondi and James Stewart and the magnificent acting 'if the principal players, together with an appealing story, makes tins film an outstanding entertainment. Huston appears as an itinerant American minister, who arrives at a small Ohio town with his wife ( Beul,'ih Bondi) and son (James Stewart*. The story deals with the son's ambition to become a doctor, his quarrel with his father and his departure from home to heconie a brilliant doctor during the Civil War. The picture is brought to a dramatic climax with the return of the young doctor to his mother in order to ask forgiveness for neglecting her.
