NEW WOMEN'S CLUB
CHILD WELFARE ACT PUBLIC INQUIRY SUGGESTED A report of the activities of the National Council of Women was presented to a meeting of the New A\ omen's Club on Friday afternoon by Mrs. A. E. Robinson. Details of the remit suggesting a public inquiry into tho administration of the Child Welfare Act, were also given by the speaker. The remit, which was proposed by the National Council of Women, was endorsed by the meeting. An evening bag was presented tfo Mrs. A. Presling, who is resigning the position of treasurer to the club owing to her husband's transfer to Brisbane. Appreciation of her services was expressed by the president, Mrs. W. B. Darlow and members. Mrs. J. R. Boyd was appointed to fill the vacancy, and Mrs. W. H. Hurley was elected to the committee.
An address dealing with the astrological chart of President Roosevelt was given by Miss Buthcrford. Hostesses for afternoon tea were Mesdames Lloyd and Phethean.
