BRANCH ACTIVITIES DANCE AT WAI MATE NORTH WOMEN'S DIVISION FUNCTION One of the largest and most successful (lances ever held in the Bay of Islands district was organised by the Kerikeri women's division of the National Party and held in the Waimate North Hall on Thursday night. Over 400 guests were present. The committee comprisedMesdames B. H. Edkins, Leo Dwan, W. Kiernander, Macgregor Macdonald, Alexander Riddell, Harcourt, Alexander, B. Emanuel, jun., and Miss Margaret Benner. The hall was most effectively decorated with Union Jacks and the colours of the National Party. During the evening Mr. Lyness, chairman of the Kerikeri branch of the National Party, announced that telegrams of good wishes had been received from the Leader of the National Party, the Hon. Adam Hamilton, and the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates.

GATE PA COMMITTEE The dance in the Gate Pa Hall held by the Gate Pa committee of the National Party attracted a record attendance. The secretary, Miss Zoe Mountfort, was in black lacquered taffetas.

SOCIAL AT WAIWERA Members of the National Party at Waiwera held a most enjoyable social and dance on Friday night at the Gaietv Hall Waiwera, in honour of the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates. After supper. Mr. Coates made a brief speech and thanked the members for the reception accorded him.

Mrs. Coates, who accompanied Mr. Coates, was wearing a frock of cinnamon brown satin heavily embossed. She was presented witli a charming bouquet. With Mr. and Mrs. Coates were their three daughters.
