HUNGARIANS' TOUR CONTESTS AT CHRISTCHURCH [IJY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday In a table tennis tournament held at Christehurch Inst night, the Hungarian players, Barna and Bellak, had no difficulty in beating a Canterbury team. The style of play, precision, speed and brilliant recoveries of the visitors, who did not lose a single niatrh, impressed a large' audience of several hundreds of people.

Although Barna beat Bellak, 21 —1-1, 21— 11, 22 —'JO, the game was much more even than the scores, with the exception of the last l set, indicate. Barna's skill with backhand drives was amazing. Bellak played a brilliantly aggressive game in which he employed some very clever drives. Results were as follows: — Singles.—McGillivray (Canterbury) drew with L. Meier (Canterbury), 21—18, 18—21; Bellak beat G. Barron (Canterbury), 21—0, 21 Hi; Barna beat F. Lovenbach (Canterbury), 21—3, 21 —5; Bellak beat Meier, 21 —I), 21 —l3, 21 —1); Barna beat McGillivray, 21 —7, 21 —10, 21 —7; Barna beat Bellak, 21—14, 21—11, 22—20. Doubles.—Barna and Bellak beat McGillivray and Meier, 21 —2!—-13; Barna ariti Barron beat Bellak and Levenbaeh. 21—1 H. lo—2l, 21—to; Barna and Bellak beat Levenbaeh and Barron, 21 —11, 21 —13. NEW ZEALAND TEAM SELECTION ANNOUNCED [BV TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday The selector to the New Zealand Table, Tennis Association, Mr. A. S. Meachen (Wellington), announced last night that K. G. Cant lay and H. Boyes (Auckland), and E. Boniface and M. Gosling (Wellington) have been selected to represent New Zealand against tho Hungarians in the first test at the Wellington Town Hall next Thursday.
