Lopdell stated that 2925 offences were reported to the police in the Hamilton district, an increase of 55 compared with the previous year. The rise was due to more frequent offences under the Licensing Act, and to the larger number of traffic breaches. There were 77 convictions of persons found intoxicated while in charge of motor vehicles. Inspector Lopdell recommended tho erection of a police station at Mount Maunganui, and the appointment of a constable there during the summer months. He reported that land had been acquired at Whitiora, Hamilton, for a now district headquarters building.

There had been an increase of ton constables to the staff, making a total of 84 for tho district. Ho recommended a second constable should be appointed to Putaruru, and that the To Awamutu station should bo placed under a sergeant.
