NEW ARCHBISHOP

CAPETOWN DIOCESE [fbom txm OWN correspondent] CAPETOWN. June 1 The Right Rev. John Russell Darbyshire, Lord Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway, has been elected Archbishop of Capetown, in succession to Dr. Phelps. Dr. Darbyshire thus bocomes head of the Anglican Church in South Africa. The new archbishop was born in 1880 and educated at Dulwich College and at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he had a brilliant career as a classical and theological scholar. He has been Canon Residentiary of Manchester Cathedral and Vicar of Sheffield, and was consecrated Bishop of Glasgow in 1931.
