RUMOURS DENIED

ATTITUDE TO UNIONS NATIONAL PARTY POLICY THE ARBITRATION COURT [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] GISBORNE, Tuesday If the National Party secures the reins of Government, no action will be taken against either trade unions or the Arbitration Court, according to a statement made by Mr. C. H. Weston, chairman of the Dominion executive, when speaking at a complimentary dinner given him by the Gisborno Junior National League. "They are saying against_ us that we intend to abolish the iinions," Mr. Weston said. "That is furthest from our thoughts. We are as proud of our unions as the uniouists themselves." The union system was one of the advantages of the British Empire, he considered. It was not intended to abolish it, but to abolish the compulsory part of it. The Arbitration Court would bo kept on with full and unfettered powers.
