LABOUR COMPLAINT ALLEGED DEFICIENCIES INVESTIGATION MADE REPORT TO PRIME MINISTER By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, July 5
The Prime Minister, Mr. Chamberlain, to-day privately received the Labour leaders Messrs. C. It. Attlee, Arthur Greenwood and Hugh Dtilfcon, who presented a lengthy memorandum giving the results of the investigation of a special Labour committee in reference to air defences.
The memorandum dealt with alleged deficiencies in anti-aircraft guns, air raid precautions and plans of other air departments, and complained of lack of vision and incompetence. It concluded: "A thoroughly unsatisfactory state of affairs was revealed which must he investigated and remedied as quickly as possible in the interests of the nation."
The deputation particularly asked that the report be sent to Mr. L. Hore-Belisha, Secretary of State for War, and Sir Kings ley-Wood, Secretary of State for Air.
