TIMBER MILL FIRE
LOSS AMOUNTS TO £3OOO * MODERN PLANT DAMAGED ' >r [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] CHRISTCHpRCH, Wednesday Damage to the extent of £3OOO was done by fire this morning at the timber •mill of C. S. McCully, Limited. Both the plant and stock suffered. The principal damage was confined to the automatic plant controlling th® heating of the drying kilns, where the fire apparently started. It spread along the roof to the main sawmill and the door of the factory, but was checked before it could do much damage in this section. The kilns and automatic plant were the latest of their kind in New Zealand, and were installed at a cost of £7OOO. The firm has a number of Government housing contracts, but it U not expected that any delay will be experienced.
