FARMERS AND FAMILIES
TOUR OF NORTH ISLAND PARTY OF 220 FROM SOUTH [BY TELF.GRAFH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday A party of Southland farmers and their wives and families, numbering 220, arrived at Wellington this morning for a tour of the North Island arranged by the Railway Department and the Farmers' Union. The tour will embrace New Plymouth, Auckland, Rotorua, Arapuni, Frankton, Ruakura, Hamilton, Napier and Hastings, returning to Wellington via tho Wairarapa 011 Saturday, July 16. Sunday and Monday will be spent in Wellington and the party will return south on tho evening of July 18.
Mr. A. R. Johnston, provincial president of the Farmers' Union in Southland, is the leader of the party, and Mr. E. K. Sim deputy leader. Mr. R. Watkins, commercial representative of the Railway Department, js acting as manager of the tour, assisted by Mr. C. S. Bowmar, vice-president of the Southland union.
