"JOY OF LIVING"
GAY COMEDY FOR THE CIVIC Entertaining performances are given by Irene Dunne and Douglas Fairbanks, jun., in the bright comedy 1 "Joy of Living," which will be presented at the Civic Theatre to-morrow. Fairbanks appears as the owner of a tropical island who has adopted the philosophy of the simple life. On his arrival in New York he attempts to persuade a famous singer, portrayed by Irene Dunne, to come to his island, where she will discover that true happiness comes to anyone who will join, him.in his philosophy. While in New York he proceeds to show that he can also enjfty life in a gay city and is responsible for many highly amusing episodes. Fairbanks, who last appeared in "The Prisoner of Zenda." shows once again what an accomplished actor he is in a role vastly different from those he usually plays. A feature of the film is the singing of Irene Dunne, who is heard in several enjoyable numbers. The family of the singer are responsible for many of the humorous incidents in the filmj Guy Kibbee appearing as the pompous and impecunious father, Alice Brady as the nervy and posing mother and Eric Blore as the faithful family butler. An outstanding associate programme completes a highly enjoyable •ntertainment.
