KIWIS DRAW

FINAL SCOBE 19 ALL EXCITING SECOND SPELL SYDNEY AHEAD IN SCRUMS NEW ZEALANDERS' TACKLING By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received July 0, 7.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jnly 0 An exciting finish marked the Kiwis' last match of their tour against a strong Sydney side, the result being a draw with the score at 19 all. The Sydney side led at half-time by 11 points to 5. The weather was ideal and the attendance was nearly 4000.

McLeod, Midgley and Kay scored tries for New Zealand and Hemi kicked fivo goals. Tries were secured for the home side by Norval, Hyde, Stewart, Kirkaldy and Felsch, two goals being kicked by Thompson. The Sydney team won tho ball from the scrum on 17 occasions to its opponents' four in tho first spell, but tho home backs were flat-footed, which, coupled with tho Kiwis' splendid tackling and covering, kept the score within bounds. The New Zealanders excelled in the rucks, and repeatedly opened up tho play. Hemi constantly outkicked Johnson, saving his forwards and often gaining 40 yards. Better Combination Brilliant play was seen in the second spell. Smith, who had been tried at scrum-half in the first spell, went to his usual place on the wing, AY alter Brimblo going half-back and Kay fiveeighths. This produced a better combination among the backs. There were many good movements in spite of tho Sydney team almost gaining a monopoly of the ball from the scrums.

With the score 14 —7 against them, the Kiwis rallied and Chase made a splendid opening for a try by Midgley, which was converted. Kay's try was the result of the best concerted movement of the match, the forwards and backs combining to change the direction of the attack after Midglev had in-passed. Hemi converted and put the New Zealanders ahead, with the score at 17—14. Felsch Beats Hemi Victory seemed assured for the visitors when Hemi goaled from a penalty. Tho Sydney team was still gaining possession of the ball from the scrums, however, and after a sustained onslaught, Felsch evaded Hemi's tackle and scored. Thompson converted. The best players for New Zealand were McLeod and Cootes in the forwards, and Midgley, Tittleton, Kay and Chase in the backs. Hemi missed only two tackles during the game, but both cost tries. Otherwise, he gave a superb exhibition. The managers of the touring team, Messrs. J. A. Redwood and W. O. Carlaw, expressed the opinion that the tour had been justified from an educational point of view, and stated that a slight profit had been made. They expressed amazement at the difference of. the interpretation of the rules in Queensland and New South Wales, particularly with regard to the play-the-ball rule.-
