WALKER CUP INCIDENT
AMERICAN COMMITS BREACH The generosity of the loading British golfers .Tames Bruen and H. G. Bentley saved Johnny Fischer and Charlie Kocsis from losing the third hole and the match in the Walker Cup foursomes. Fischer, from six feet, putted to within nine inches of the hole, and then thoughtlessly tapped the hall in —thus playing out of turn in foursomes and incurring the penalty of loss of the hole. Fischer immediately offered to concede the hole, but the British players declined to accept, so a half was agreed upon. Actually the hole was lost. But the hole stood as halved, and after 36 holes the match was halved.
