SCHOOLBOYS' TOUR 'INTEREST IN AUSTRALIA ARRANGEMENT OF DETAILS [BY TELEGBAI-H —PBESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Tuesday An assurance that Australia is very much interested in the proposed visit of a New Zealand secondary schools' team to Australia during tho August term holidays was contained in a letter received from the Australian Soccer Football Association at to-day's meeting of the council of tho New Zealand Football Association. It was understood, the letter stated, that Now Zealand was to be responsible for ail the expenses to and from Australia and that Australia would bo asked to arrange the itinerary, the billeting of the boys and to secure accommodation for two managers and pay all expenses in Australia. As the team would bo arriving in Sydney on August 23 and leaving on September 12. the Australian association considered that it would be asking too much to includo Adelaide and Melbourne in the itinerary. A better suggestion would be to confine the tonr to New South Wales and Queensland, but if possible to extend tho itinerary to include Adelaide and Melbourne. In the meantime Australia would be concentrating on a tour of Now South Wales and Victoria, or, preferably, Now South Wales and Queensland. Tho chairman, Mr. J. Melbum, and other members expressed gratification at Australia's cordial reception of tho proposal. It was decided to reply by cable expressing preference for a tour of New South Wales and Queensland and informing tho Australian authorities that the age limit would be 16. Notification was received of the withdrawal of Millerlon from the Chatham Cup competition. '
Tho council approved Monday, August 8, as tho duto for the Wellington challenge to Canterbury at Christchurch for tho English trophy. A challenge for the trophy was also received from Auckland.
