"JOY OF LIVING"
BRIGHT COMEDY FOR CIVIC The entertaining 8.K.0. Radio production "Joy of Living," which will commence a season at the Civic Theatre on Friday, continues the trend noticeable in recent productions for simple stories, clever dialogue and amusing situations. The storv deals with the attempt bv a carefree owner of a tropical island (Douglas Fairbanks, jun.) to convince a New York singer, portrayed by Irene Du:ine, that one can find true happiness only in a simple life. Nevertheless, the philosopher of the "simple life" shows that he can also enjoy the gay city life, and his adventures in New Y6rk provide many hilarious episodes. A feature of the film is the singing of Miss Dunne, who sings several enjoyable numbers in a lighthearted and attractive manner. Much of the humour in the film is supplied by the singer's family, amusing performances being given by-Alice Brady as the posing mother. Guv Kibbee as the impecunious and impudent father, and Eric Blore as the ingenious family butler.
