PRICES AT SMITHFIELD LAMB MARKET EASIER EFFECT OF HEAVIER ARRIVALS The Smithfielc] market for lamb is a shade easier owing to heavier arrivals, especially of second quality, according to the weekly report of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. LARGE WETHER SUPPLIES TRADE GENERALLY BRIGHTER Tho Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office as at the close of busines last week:—Wethers: Larger supplies have caused prices to weaken. Ewes: The market is quiet and unchanged. Lambs: There is a fair demand, but seconds are weaker. Trade generally is brighter with a better demand. Quotations: —Wethers, light, s|d to 5J per lb.; heavy, 4§d to sd; ewes, 2|d to 4d; lambs, twos, 7fd to 7*d; eights, 7|d to 7*d; fours, 7%d to 7id; seconds, 7d to 7^d.

LOAN OF £77,500 LARGE HAMILTON SCHEME BORROWING ARRANGEMENTS [from OTJIt OWN correspondent] HAMILTON, Sunday An Order-in-Council has been pub. lished authorising the Hamilton Borough Council to borrow by way of hypothecation of debentures issued in respect of \he Garden Place loan of £77,500. The rate of interest at which hypothecation or mortgaging of the debentures may be carried out, pending the raising of the loan, is fixed at a sum not exceeding 4J per cent. The Order-in-Council also provides that before such preliminary borrowing by hypothecation, the council shall establish a sinking fund and make payments to such sinking fund according to the terms which were arranged when the loan was approved.
