LABOUR AFFILIATION
SHOP WORKERS TO BALLOT DELAY IN AWARD CRITICISED A decision to hold a postal c ballot immediately on the question of affiliating with the Labour Party was made at a special meeting of the Auckland Amalgamated Shop Assistants' Union last night. The president, Mr. J. McDougall, presided over an attendance of about 600. The question of the union's new award was the subject of discussion at an earlier meeting, held in committee, and a resolution was passed expressing dissatisfaction at the Arbitration Court's long delay in dealing with the matter, and urging the Government to provide further facilities to cope with the situation.
