TEMPERANCE WORKER

DEATH IN MELBOURNE FORMER AUCKLAND RESIDENT The death occurred in Melbourne recently of Mrs. C. A. Hutchinson, who lived for a number of years in Whangarei and later in Auckland. Mrs. Hutchiuson was an ardent temperance worker and was president of the Women's Christian Temperance Union in Wha ngarei, where she did outstanding work. Later, Mrs. Hutchinson came to reside in Auckland and was a vice-presi-dent of the Auckland union, doing excellent work in the social hygiene department. She was a member of tho Baptist Tabernacle and took an interest in all missionary and Christian work. Before corning to New Zealand, Mrs. Hutchinson was among tho foremost women in the Women's Christian Temperance Union movement in Australia and held the office of vice-president of the Commonwealth Union. Mrs. Hutchinson was also a very active worker in tho Baptist Church in Melbourne and for many years was a Bible Class leader.
