MR. LYONS' DENIAL

WHISPERING CAMPAIGN 1 CHARGE BY MR. SAVAGE AUSTRALIA'S FRIENDSHIP POLICY CONCERN OF DOMINION By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright CANBERRA, June 24 The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, says that he is not aware of any whispering campaign in Australia against New Zealand, as alleged by the Prime Minister of the Dominion, Mr. M. J. Savage, yesterday. "I am sure that no decent Australian would lend himself to any action likely to injure New Zealand's credit," said Mr. Lyons. "The general attitude of Australia toward New Zealand is most friendly, and the policy of the New Zealand Government is entirely a matter for New Zealand." An alleged exposure of the reason for the whispering campaign against Now Zealand in London, made by an Australian paper, was characterised by Mr. Savage in a statement on Thursday, as a fairly correct statement of the position. "But, you have not got to go to London for a whispering campaign," Mr. Savage added. "You can find it in Australia. Some Australian politicians and economists seem to be more concerned about New Zealand afFairs than about Australian. My advice to them is to mind their own business for a few moments."
