FIRE AT TAKAPUNA

Extensive damage to two rooms of a largo wooden house in Hurstmere Road, Takapuna, was caused by a fire which broke out yesterday morning. Prompt work by the Takapuna Vo un teer Fire Brigade confined the outbrea to the two rooms. The fire started in the washhouse, and when first noticed shortly before nine o'clock it had a firm hold. T ® brigade had to run out 400 ft. of 08 f to reach the house, which is well ac from the road, but the fire was soon under control. The furniture was r«*moved from the house, but much was damaged by smoke and water.
