RACING PROSPECTS

WAIPA CLUB

MEETING AT TE RAPA WIN AND PLACE BETTING W. G. PARK STEEPLECHASE CHANCES OF INNESS LAD Useful fields aro carded for tho Waipa Racing Club's Winter Meeting at Te Rapa to-day and they should pro- - vide some very interesting contests. The chief events will be the W. G. Park Steeplechase and tho Woodstock Stakes and both appear very open. The course is likely to be holding after the rain that has fallen recently. The win and place systein of letting will bo used. Following are details of the fields, with a review of the prospects in each race by "Archer":— 11.15—ANDREW KAY STEEPLECHASE, Of £2OO, and trophy valued at £25; about 2% miles st<lb. st. lb. Mio Lume . . 10 13 Electric Flash » 4 London ... 10 8 Etcetera ..91 Cynical Kid , 10 2 Aramis ... 0 1 Bells of BoW 9 8 Arcadian ... 9 0 Holly Lu . . 9 5 Ground Swell 9 0 King Mestor 9 5 Windsor Lass 9 0 Floodlight • 9 4 The topw'eight, Mio Lume, should be capable of a creditable performance in ihe class. London has been racing well and was second at Tauranga last Saturday to Inness Lad. Cynical Kid has not raced just lately but is useful when fit. Holly Lu cut up badly at Tauranga and will require to do much better if he is to succeed here. Bells of Bow has been racing well and his turn is due. He should be assisted by his good fencing. Ki - J' r .Mestor has no recent form, but Floodlight is an improver who seems to stay well. Electric Flash may be improved after her race at Tauranga and Aramis is an improver who finished second in the Hunt Club Hurdles at Ellerslie. Windsor Lass is on the upgrade and appeals most of the others. The favourites ma}' be LONDON, BELLS OF BOW, ARAMIS. 11.55—ARAPUNI HANDICAP, First Division Of £150; 6 fur. St. lb. Bt. lb. Du Maurier 10 6 Miss Mestor 8 0 Forest Acre 9 6 Kia Ora ..80 Superior Te Puroa . . 8 0 Guard ..9 1 The Trimmer 8 0 Alyth .... 8 10 Hessketoon . 8 0 r, Ngawiri ... 8 6 Huntsman's Tepoto ... 8 3 Chorus .80 Chikara ... 8 1 Orwere ... 8 0 Bing Lee ... 8 0 Spearford ..80 Du Maurier ran below expectations at Ellerslie, but won twice at Te Rapa in May. Forest Acre is an improving three-year-old and has jperformed well at Te Rapa previously. Superior Guard is also on the upgrade and in this company should give a good account of him- ■ self. Alyth aisappointed at Tauranga last Saturday, but has a good chance to make amends. Ngawiri won in the novice class at Tauranga and should be capable of a creditable effort. Tepoto has' not raced just lately, but is speedy and is becoming more solid with age. Chikara and Sing Lee have shown no form for a long time, but the latter is verv smart when fit. Miss Mestor and foa Ora shaped creditably at Tauranga last Saturday and Te Puroa is an improver. The Trimmer has made some progress lately, but his form has not been good. Hessketoon has solid condition to assist him and Spearford's second ..at Tauranga was. an encouraging effort. Spearford looks a likely improver. Huntsman's Chorus and Orwere nave ho form worth noting. Some who may find favour are: FOREST ACRE SUPERIOR GUARD ALYTH. 12.40—WPODSTOCK STAKES, ? ' Of £300; XV» miles -st. lb, st. lb. Master Brierly 9 0 Kena 7 0 Gay Rose . 8 9 General Ruse 7 0 Malagigi « . 8 6 Melvanui ..70 Enge . -8 0 Requiem -.70 Gold Vaals .. 7 12 Barrister ..70 Valmint . 711 Palmint • • . 7 0 Airam ... ■ 710 Gay Rebel ••70 Day Wind 7 8 Brown Lap . 7 0 Light Comedy 7 0 Master Brierly has failed in his • latest races and will require to show improvement to succeed: Gay Rose has also been defeated in her latest outings, but she handles soft going very well and should hot be discarded. Malagigi was finishing strongly when lie ran third in the York Handicap at Ellerslie to Jack Tar and Erndale and the extra li- distance should not be to his disadvantage. Enge failed to do as well as expected at Ellersilie, but he shines when the going is soft and is now in a, nice position in the weights. Gold Vaals won well at Tauranga and a similar effort would make him difficult to beat. Valmint failed in the York Handicap after running second in the Cornwall Handicap, but has freshened up in the meantime and may take a lot of beat- • ing. The lighter scale of weights should enable Airam to do better than at Tauranga, and Day Wind should have a chance to make amends for his defeat at Tauranga. Ho has run some of his ' best races at Te Rapa. Light Comedy and Kena, who was third at Tauranga last Saturday, are both possibilities. General Ruse and Melvanui are improvers and should not be disgraced even though they are go;ng from , to open company. Requiem railed at Tauranga and will have to show improvement to win. Barrister is an improver and Gay Rebel a fourth Tauranga indicated that he is returning to form. Brown Lap failed when • solidly supported at Tauranga. a Palmint appears to be out of his class. The favourites may be ENGE MALAGIGI VALMINT. 1 .JO —-W. C. PARK STEEPLECHASE, Of £450; about 2Va miles gt. lb. 8t " Ib ' All Irish . . 11-6 Inness Lad . 9 10 Windsor Lad ,11 4 Mio Lume . 9 » Valpeen . .11 3 London • • g » Bryce Street 10 10 Electric Flash 9 0 Lucidns . 10 9 All Irish ran second over hurdles at Tauranga last Saturday, and is a fine jumper who should make a forward showing. Windsor Lad is at the top or his form and was going very well when " he ran off at the double in the Winter Steeplechase at Ellerslie. Valpeen should make a forward showing and Bryce Street'is an improver of whom the best has yet to be seen. Lucidus is very fit and should bo assisted by Ins solid condition, but at the weights no may be held safely by his stable-mute Bryce Street./"lnness Lad is on the improve and his two victories at Tauranga were achieved in convincing fashion. Mio Lume, London and -Electric I ash >re engaged earlier in the W. u. 1-# r » Bteeplecha.se and their running in tha event may give, a lino on their prospects. The main fancies may be INNESS LAD WINDSOR LAD ALL IRISH.

Sen Acre was unlucky to be beaten at Tauraoga, and

is an improver who should take beating. Poland and Susan have shaped creditably at times and should make fair showings. The form of Libra and Te Monatekapa has not been encouraging, while Rackle and Iskra aro novices who have yet to show their worth. Tralee Rose is speedy, and is becoming more solid with age. Midland is on the improve and may do better than at Tauranga, but Paunui and Manawalie have no form worth noting. Dovon mado a creditable showing at Tauranga and may improve. The best supported may be FLEET WIND SEN ACRE TRALEE ROSE 8.40 —ORAKAIf HURLDES, Of £250; I'/, miles at. lb. at. Ib. King's Archer 11 13 Queen Lu ..00 Kilberis . .10 11 Sinking Fund 0 0 Iliness Lad . 10 8 Professional . 0 0 Lady England 10 1 Solomon ..90 Killadar -.98 Hopalong ..90 King Mestor 9 2 Mana 9 0 Mia Acrea . 9 0 Orac ..... 9 0 Count Golden Spahl 9 0 Rousillon . 9 0 Bracket: Kilberis and Orac. King's Archer is in good form and should shape well, even though he has a heavy weight. Kilberis did not run to form at Tauranga, but may do better here. Orac has possibilities as a jumper, but lack of experience may be against him. Inness Lad is very fit. and if reserved for this event should take a lot of beating. Lady England and Killadar are both likely to run solid races, and Mia Acrea has a chance to make amends for recent failures. Queen Lu ran third at Tauranga, and Sinking Fund is a newcomer to hurdling who may be dangerous. Professional is a distinct possibility, and Solomon's speed should take him a long way. Solomon demonstrated that ho was fit by winning on tho flat at Tauranga last Saturday. The best of the others may be the erratio Count Roussillon and Golden Spahi. Popular fancies may be INNESS LAD LADY ENGLAND KILLADAR 3.2O—SEDDON HANDICAP, Of £200; 7 fur. St. lb. ft.'lb. Rolllcker . . 910 Du Maurier 8 8 Prince Acre 9 2 Horowhenua . 8 1 Gold Vaals . 9 2 Mangukaha . 8 O Gay Seton . 813 Sweet Rose . 8 0 Erndale . . 813 Salesman ..8 0 Hunting Mars 8 11 Cappy . . . .. 8 0 Orate .... 8 8 Young Paddon 8 0 Maori Song 8 8 Besiege ... 8 0 Te Monowai 8 8 Bracket: Te Monowai and Besiege. Rollicker is a good performer on soft tracks, and the same applies to Prince Acre, who recently won at Ellerslie. Gold Vaals should go well if reserved for this event. Gay Seton won at Ellerslie and, although he failed at Tauranga, should not be without prospects under the lighter scale of weights. Erndale was second to Jack Tar in the York Handicap at Ellerslie, and that form suggests an excellent chance for him. Hunting Mars will require to do much better than at Tauranga to have prospects, and the distance might be a little far for Orate, although he should make a forward showing. Te Monowai was beaten at Ellerslie, but ran good races, and is likely to win at any time. Lack of recent racing may be against Besiege, and Du Maurier has yet to prove his ability in open company. Horowhenua is regaining form and may win at any time. The best of the others may be the improving Young Paddon, who won in the hack class at Elierslie, and excels in heavy going. The favourites may be ERNDALE YOUNG PADDON ■ MAORI; SONG ' 4.0 HAIRINI HANDICAP, Of £200; 1 mile st. lb. st. lb. Loombination 912 Hempton ..80 Gay Sister . 9 3 Libra .... 8 0 Mio Fratollo. 813 Miss Clipper 8 0 Alyth .... 8 10 Paunui ...80 Silver Glow . 8 7 Lady Kew ..80 Aero Queen . 8 6 Hessketoon . 8 0 Raceline ..82 Arawa Rose . 8 0 El Meynell . 8 0 Loombination and Gay Sister are in fine form, and both should xun well. Mio Fratollo scored his first success when he won at Tauranga, and is on the upgrade. Alyth should have a good chance to make amends for her defeat at Tauranga. Silver Glow displayed improvement when he finished second to Bright Idea at Ellerslie, and a similar effort would make him very difficult to beat. Aero Queen and Raceline are possibilities, and El Meynell should have a chance. Hempton showed pace at Tauranga and is a likely improver. Miss Clipper ran two good races last week, and Hessketoon should bo suited by the distance. The likeliest of the others may be Arawa Rose. Some who may find favour are SILVER GLOW HESSKETOON MIO FRATOLLO RIDING ENGAGEMENTS LIST OF JOCKEYS' MOUNTS The following is a list of riding engagements for the Waipa Racing Club's meeting at To llapa to-day:— N.
