Autumn Fruiting Raspberries

Many home gardeners are puzzled to know what to do with the autumnfruiting raspberries like the Lloyd George variety, when winter comes. Are the autumn-fruited canes of any use to leave for fruiting next summer? The answer is that the canes which produced only a few berries last autumn will bear fruit again next summer, Provided they are " topped " now. his simply consists of cutting off six inches or so of the top from every sturdy cane. But if autumn berries only are required, cut every cane down to the ground now. To help the canes, apply a dressing of sulphate of potash, four ounces to each yard run of row. Fork in very lightly, without disturbing the roots.
