REPRESENTATIVE MATCH

AUCKLAND AND COUNTRY The Country Week hockey tournament which has been held at Remuera during the past week, and which will enter the closing stages this morning, will be concluded to-day with a match between a country representative side and" a strong Auckland team. Enough has been seen of the country players to show that a high standard of hockey prevails among them. A feature of their play is their general keenness and remarkable fitness. The match will serve to test the general efficiency of the Auckland side and ffivo some indication of how it will fare against the Indian touring team. As a curtain-raiser a match will be played between a Country B team and the Auckland junior representatives. There is a high standard of play in the second grade of tne Auckland competition, and spirited opposition should be given to the country side. Owing to the representative game boing played, the senior championship will not bo continued, another round of the Devonport Shield competition being substituted. What promises to be a hard-fought tussle will be staged between Grammar Old Boys and St. Luke's on No. 2 ground at 1.45 p.m. St. Luke's were defeated in the first series or this competition by Mount Eden. United and Somerville will try conclusions on the No. 3 ground at 1.45 p.m. The remaining contest, which will be staged on No. 0 ground, will be between Mount Eden and University. A special match will bo played later in the afternoon between Mount Eden and ThamesHauraki for the Gage Brown trophy.
