THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE \ TARANAKI'OILS AGAIN ADVANCE A slight improvement in tone took / place in the investment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Sellers were not disposed to make concessions and levels generally shqJjpd a slightly lirmer tendency. Oil snares again were very active, and Taranaki Oils, after a sale a shade lower than on ihe previous, day, closed lid higher at lis Bd. Hanks were fairly steady, although Commercials, of Australia lost ground compared with the previous sale last week. Auckland Gas met with slightly easier support, and offers for Goldsbrough Molt also were a shade lower. Coal shares remained firm, and interest in breweries was maintained, with New Zealands advancing on sale. The miscellaneous section generally showed an improvement on the previous day's levels. Colonial Sugars changed bands at late rates, ami there was stronger support for G. J. Coles and Australian lj'on and Steel (preference). Keener interest also was displayed in ' Woolworths (New Zealand). .Metals showed further improvement on late rates, although Broken Hill Proprietary were marked down on the previous business. New Zealand Drug showed an appreciable advance on the last sale on Juno 10, while New Zealand Farmers' Fertiliser also wero more strongly supported.
