CARE OF YOUNG PIGS

lIV ItItKKUKR There is no better system than confining the sow to a closed pen for tho first few days at least after she farrows her litter. If the sow is confined to a run only, with an open shelter, or a shelter she can leave at will, she will always leave tho shelter at times to graze, and will do this irrespective 'of the weather. Nothing will stop the young pigs from following tho sow around the run every time they want a drink, and this exposure is most harmful. Warm, dry bedding 4 will alleviate the trouble a little, but there is nothing so good as locking the sow in a pen until the litter is at ]cast throe weeks old and ready to start feeding at tho creep. The youngsters will got all the exercise they need scampering around in the straw in the pen.
