SOUTH AFRICAN GIRL RECOVERY HOPED FOR The most popular personality of tho South African golf team, which arrived in England recently, is 27-year-old Miss Beryl Lang, who has been deaf and dumb for 25 years. Her disabilities aro said to have helped her golf by giving her extra concentration, but hopes aro now entertained that sho may recover the power of speech. On her father's farm in Cape Province, Miss Lang learned lip-reading and sign language, but did not meet many people except on tho little golf course near by. Miss Doris Chambers, the veteran champion, when she captained tho English team in South Africa, was impressed with Miss Lang's play and suggested she should bo included in tho South African team, the first ever to tour England. During the voyage to England Miss Lang was able to utter a few words and tho team manager, Mrs. G. B. Wilkinson, intends writing to Miss Lang's parents asking them to allow a specialist to ace tho girl.
