ELLERSLIE WORK

L VALIfINT GOES WELL SEVEN WITH EL MEYNELL Y THE TRIMMER DISPLAYS SPEED Y On a heavy track the best efforts at LUerslio yesterday morning were I credited to Valmint and El Meynell over seven furlongs and The Trimmer g over six. Tho No. 1 grass, with the poles out 10ft., was open for galloping, 'a Kilonsa' (McTavish) and Palmint g ( l 'earn) were companions over six furit lo ngs, finishing practically on terms in d L23 > after running the first three in d 425. Kilonsa, who was travelling comtort ably at the end, will leave next rj Thursday to • fulfil engagements at I Tronthnm. Palmint was staying on well 0 at the lmish, and has been working in ini]>rovod stylo lately. He is to contest s the Woodstock Stakes at Te Rapa tomorrow. 7 Knight of Australia (Clarke) and 1 Wee Pat (Fearn) ran six furlongs in ' 1.24 2-5, tho first two in 295. Knight of , Australia was doing it easily at the finish. Flcetwind (Gilchrist) beat Professional (Murray), with Aero Queen (Mclavish) several lengths away, at the end of five furlongs in 1.8 1-5, the first two taking 28 1-os. Fleotwind went with her usual dash, but Professional's effort was, pleasing, as he.had tho worst of the weights. A bail track worker, Aero Queen failed to display any speed. _ fter receiving the worst of the start, VaUnint (Murray) finished- slightly ahead of El Meynell (Green) at the conclusion of seven furlongs in 1.34 3-5, , tho first four being run in 52 3-os. They i were both being kicked up at the finish, but it was a good effort. El Meynell ] was displacing -slight signs of lameness J after cooling off. ml 1 L In ? l Kerr ) PU - h p, . outv of ! in a work-out over a circuit in 1.58 3-5 the last seven furlongs in 1.37 4-5 He ' was not unduly bustled .over tho 'con- 1 eluding stages and demonstrated that * he is very fit for his engagement at Te Kapa to-morrow. The Trimmer (Sintort) displayed £ speed m getting to the end of eix fur- n longs in 1.22 2-5. He was brought home v the last three furlongs by Tanya (Gpugh) and he finished in'front in y 4U 4-os. It was a smart performance on the part of The Trimmer, who carried a good weight. The course of hurdling appears to have made this erratic gelding more tractable. The two-year-old, Talak (Hearne) moved in good style in a short sprint down the straight. The patient policy adopted with this colt should be well rewarded. Tane Mahutu (Gough) and Arikira (Ritchie) gave a promising display in a schooling bout over four of . the hurdles in the middle. Arikira gave a muchimproved showing. Others to do useful work on the sand were Te Hai, My Money, Bass, Trilliarch, Stretto, Te Maranui, Hunting Maid and Silver Quex.
