GRANTS OF £2 PER INMATE USE OF ART UNION PROFITS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON. Thursday The Government has decided to make grants to the trustees of various registered children's homes on the basis of £2 a head for each child inmate. The money is to be allocated from the accumulated surplus profits of art unions conducted for the relief of distress. The Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, said the mone}' it is proposed to allocate should help these institutions and their charges a great deal, particularly during the winter months. The allocations would be made on the receipt by the Internal Affairs Department of applications from the trustees or management of the homes. Applications would be considered up to July 15.
