SIX-MILE RADIUS

MEANING OF TRANSPORT ACT [FRqM our ow ( v correspondent] WHANG AHEI, Wednesday In a traffic case before the Whaligaroi Court, the point at issue was whether a six-mile radius mentioned in the Transport Act was that distance by road or in a direct line. Mr, F. Watters, Highways Board traffic inspector, brought a charge against a carrier of conducting a goods service without a licence. The distance travelled by the service by road .was over six miles. For the defence. Mr. H. K. Trimmer contended that the meaning of the Act was six miles in a direct line and by this the service was only five miles. Counsel's contention was accepted by Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., who dismissed the charge.
