Mr. Hendry Lube left for the South by train last night. Mr. V. H. Reed, of Paihia, Bay of Islands, is at the Station Hotel. The Hon. B. Martin, M.L.C., left for Wellington -by the limited express last night. The Rev. T. C. Hammond, rector of St. Philip's Church, Balmain, Sydney, ' is visiting Hamilton. Mr. F. G. Farrell, president of the Automobile Association (Auckland), returned from Wellington by yesterday's limited express. Mr, A. Main, manager of the Waitemata Electric Power Board, left by train yesterday afternoon for Wellington to attend a meeting of the lighting sub-committee of the National Road Safety Council. Mr. Oscar Garden, formerly of Christchurcb, who Hew from England to Australia in 1930, has passed his chief navigator's examination. Mr. Garden has been engaged in commercial flying for some time and is employed by British Airways, Limited. Lieutenant H. G. A. Lewis, R.N., has been appointed to fill the position to be vacated on H.M.S. Philomel when Lieutenant P. R. W. McMaster returns to England. Lieutenant Lewis will sail for New Zealand by the Rangitane on July 21. At present he is on H.M.S. Hyperion. Mr. T. R. Toovcy, formerly chief assistant to the general manager, will take over the duties of representative for the Port of London Authority for Australia and New Zealand on July 1. He will will be relieving Captain A. W. Pearse, who -has held the position for 16 years.
