RUGBY LEAGUE TOUR
NEW ZEALAND TEAM QUEENSLAND MATCH TO-DAY PRELIMINARY SELECTION MADE (Received June 17, 7.55 p.m.) BRISBANE, June 17 The New Zealand Rugby League selectors have announced 17 players as a preliminary selection for the team to play Queensland to-morrow as follows: Fullback. —J. Hemi. Threequarters.—R. Brown, R. Chase, W. Tittleton, J. Smith, G. Midgley (one to be omitted). Five-eighths.—Walter Brimble. Halfback. —Wilfred Brimble, R. Grotte (one to be omitted). Forwards. —J. Coots, G. Orman, W. Glynn, A. Gault, J. Brodrick, J. McLeod, W. McNeight, H. Tetley (two to be omitted). The manager of the New Zealand team, Mr. J. A. Redwood, reports that the players are fit except Kay, who was stiff after yesterday's run. The team was given a reception by the acting-Premier, Mr. P. Pease, at Parliament House.
The New Zealand team to date has played three matches, won two and lost one. Results are as follows: —New South Wales, lost 12—25; New South Wales, won 37—18; Country Centre, won 23 —2." The next match will be against Toowoomba, at Toowoomha, next Wednesday.
