MORTGAGE RELIEF
MANY APPLICATIONS WORK IN SOUTH AUCKLAND [FKOM OUR OWN COKniiSPONDENT] HAMILTON, Friday Good progress has been made in dealing with applications for relief received by tho South Auckland Mortgagees' Adjustment Commission. The chairman, Mr. S. Lewis, stated to-day that the commission expected to complete all the farm applications by tho end of August, and to finish all the work it was appointed to do by the end of October. Mr. Lewis added that between 1300 and 1400 applications had been received, of which about 70 per cent related to farm lands, and tho remainder to homo and other properties. In numerous cases voluntary adjustments had boon made after the commission had partially heard the applications. There had been a commendable disposition on the part of applicants and mortgagors, continued Mr. Lewis, to realise the need, for adjustments of mortgages, and to enter into voluntary arrangements which wore equitable to both parties.
