June '2O. —Society of Musicians.. \'* ' / Naval Concert Party ; "The Navy Comes to Town", is the title of an entertainment to be presented in His Majesty's Theatre "ext Wednesday by the concert part of H.M.b. Leander. The concert, which will be given by permission of Captain J. * Rivett-Carnac, will be for the benefit of the Auckland Navy League About 80 performers will take part-in the concert. which will include band numbers, choruses, sketches, vocal and instrumental solos, monologues, dancing and humour. Chamber Music Concert Schubert's delightful trio in B flat. Opus 99, is to be presented at the concert of the Auckland Chamber Music Society next Thursday evening, and replaces the Brahms string quartet formerly announced. The other, instrumental numbers on the programme. will he "The Ghost" trio by Beethoven, and "The Yorkshire Dalejs.'; three impressions. by Armstrong Gibbs. The performers will be Haydn Murray (violin*. Lalla Hemus ('cello) and Dora Judson (piano). The third concert of the society will be on August 18; and will 'feature quartettes bv Mozart and Beethoven. Thev will be played by an ensemble ed by Vincent Aspev. ; An extra Sunday concert will also be given in September. Royal Auckland Choir The decision to hold a third public concert by the lioyal Auckland Choir ha 3 resulted in a change in the date of the second concert for the season, which will now take place on August 25. The third concert will be in November at a date yet to be decided. In previous years the choir has' made three public appearances a year, but at the last annual meeting ils was decided tai reduce this to-two. The success of the first, concert and the number -of new subscribers, however, caused the choir, to change its plans and to revert to the former practice. Last week the choir shifted its rehearsal rooms, and is now installed in more comfortable quarters in the Choral Hall, Airedale Street.
