SOUTH AFRICAN AFFAIRS
ADDRESS TO TRAVEL CLUB WEEKLY MORNING TEA PARTY An interesting address on affairs in South Africa was given at the Auckland Travel Club's morning tea yesterday by Mr. L. P. van Zyl Ham, Secretary for Mines in South Africa. Mr. J. A. C. Allum presided. Two solos were sung by Mrs. Leslie Meek, her accompanist being Mrs. Humphrey Steward. The organising director, Mrs. Victor Macky, presented floral shoulder sprays to Mrs. van Zyl Ham, Mrs. Barry Caulfeild (Switzerland), Mrs. Meek and Mrs. Steward. Members of the committee present included:—Lady Wilson, Mrs. Charles Martyn, Mrs. G. T. Simpson, Mrs. H. T. Merritt, Mrs. Raymond Sheath. Mrs. Archibald Bishop, Mrs. G. E. Anderson, Mrs. S. T. Wicksteed, Mrs. J. McKenzie Wilson. Among the overseas and out-of-town guests were: —Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Frankle (Johannesburg, South Africa), Mrs. A. F. M. Wilson (Scotland), Mrs. .Jerrara (Malaya), Mrs. V. H. Deane, Mrs. Penny, Professor J. H. Richardson (England), Miss C. Carey Dufield (Jersey, Channel Islands), Miss J. C. Hill (Adelaide), Mrs. H. Holland, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. S. J. Grahamc, Mrs. Charles Massev, Mrs. George Matthias, Mrs. Rosewarne, Miss Jean Hahn (Christchurch). Mrs. George Hart, Miss J. Mac Donald (Timaru), Mrs. C.
