SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FIVE TEAMS EQUAL IN LEAD INTERESTING MATCHES TO-DAY It is some time since the championship of the Auckland Rugby League was in s'ich an interesting stage. Five teams are now equal and considerable interest will be taken in tho matches at Carlaw Park this afternoon, when four ot' the leading teams will he seen in action. The principal match will be between Monnt Albert, ono of the leading teams, and Ponsonby. Tho former has a strong forward lino and has had easy victories in its last two matches. The rearguard has shown improvement and the team will bo favoured for the honours. Ponsonby, however, is a good combination and is always likely to causo a sur> prise. Two of the leading teams, Manukau and Newton, will try conclusions in the curtain raiser, and a fast and close contest should result. The chief match on the No. '2 ground will be played by Marist, another of the leading teams, and North Shore. The former is an improving team and will be anxious to maintain its position. The reserve grade teams of these clubs will play the curtainraiser. The other leading team, Richmond, will be seen in action against Papakura at Prince Edward Park, Papakura. Tho reserve grade teams will contest the curtain raiser.
