WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS

REPRESENTATIVE RUGBY A VARIED PROGRAMME A varied programme of sporting events will take place to-day and possibly the greatest interest will be displayed in the representative Rugby football match between Auckland and Waikato. This is a return game and will be played at Eden Park, giving followers of Rugby in Auckland their first opportunity of the season of watching a representative match. In the League football code keen matches are anticipated. The chief contest at Carlaw Park will be between Mount Albert, one of the leading teams, and Ponsonby, which is two points behind. Two of the other leading teams, Manukau and Newton, will meet in the early game, and the principal match on the No. 2 ground will be between Marist and North Shore. The local final of the Chatham Cup competition will be the main attraction in the Auckland Football Association's programme. It will be between Thistle and Ponsonby. The second round of championship hookey matches will begin, Grammar Old Boys opposing University in the main fixture. Lower grade games will be continued.

The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club will hold road cycling events over the Howick course, while the winter competitions will be held in'tbe Domain. The harrier season will be continued, while club runs and basketball matches will also take place. Golf clubs will hold competitions. Wrestling enthusiasts will be attracted by the professional contest to-night between Pat Meehan and Pat Fraley.
