NEW GIANT LINER
PLAN TO INCREASE SPEED PROVIDING SMOOTH HULL LONDON, June 5 A new method of increasing speed is being employed in the construction of the great liner Queen Elizabeth. To eliminate the overlap of the underwater plates, which acta as a brake, it has been decided to streamline the hull with a new typo of cement. Tank experiments with bevel-finished models have shown a remarkable absence of friction and eddies.
