June 9 Scores of letterß and telegrams ~ were delivered to Count von Luck- ' - ner to-day from all the Eastern: - States of Australia deploring thei 1 " incident aboard the Seeteufel yesterday, when a group representing the School of Modern Writers, pre- ! tending to bring an address of wel J come, read to the Count an attack upon Germany. Count von Luckner was the guest o{ honour to-night aboard H.M.A.S. Sydney. It was his 57th birthday. Earlier in the day the Count had as a visitor Captain P. H. Day,- of tho steamer Amra, who took him as a prisoner to Fiji in September, 1917* The two men shook hands cordially; and chatted over incidents of von Luckner's capture. The Count told Captain: _• Day his visit was one of the most important incidents of his life, and handed him an autographed portrait of himself, "To my generous captor, Captain Day, in remembrance of September 21, 1917, when you carried a( pirate on your S.S. Amra to Suva,"
