QUEEN CARNIVAL
WELLSFORD EFFORT SUM OF £750 REALISED WOMEN'S REST ROOM PLANNED [from our own correspondent] WELLSFORD, Thursday The queen carnival held in Wellsford during the past six weeks proved most successful, the sum of about £750 being raised. The money will bo used to build a women's rest room and a room for the Plunket nurse on a piece of ground owned by the Rodney County Council in the Wellsford township. The carnival was organised by a committee from all parts of North Rodney, and other committees were appointed to further the interests of the various queens. The Farmers' Queen, Miss Gwen Wintle, Mangawai, received 32,300 votes; the Returned Soldiers' Queen, Miss Marion Worker, Wellsford, won 20,981 votes, and the Sports Queen, Miss Connie Connell, Wellsford, received 20,981 votes. The crowning of the queen will take place in about ,a fortnight's time at the Wellsford Town Hall.
