FALL INTO HOT POOL
DEATH OF MAORI BOY SLIP AT WHAKAREWAREWA [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] ROTORUA, Thursday The hot pools in the Whakarewarewa thermal reserve have claimed another victim. A seven-year-old Maori boy, Au Eriana Waretini, fell into a pool near the spout baths and died in hospital from severe scalds. At the inquest, which was opened before the coroner, Mr. W. L. IJichards, a schoolmate of the victim stated that Waretini had been walking over the hot pool on a cold water pipe when he slipped and fell into the pool. The lad scrambled out unaided. His agonising cries attracted near by Maoris and he was taken -to hospital. The inquest was adjourned.
