POWER CHARGES REDUCED WATER LOANS PAYMENTS [by telegraph OWN correspondent] TAURANGA. Thursday A decision was made by the Tauranga Borough Council' at < its fortnightly meeting to communicate with the Minister of Finance, the Hon. Walter Nash, for authority to extend the term of the Mount Maunganui and Otumoetai water loans to 85 years. The reason for this action, it was stated, was that the annual payments required for a 35 years' loan, as against a 20 years' loan, were so much less that the districts concerned would be considerably relieved. The council decided to make a reduction in the electricity hot water service charges and cooking charges by 25 per cent. The reductions will mean a total sum of £2116, based on the consumption of the past year.
