OBITUARY
MRS. H. J. SAULBREY [prom oub own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday The death occurred at Ngaruawahia yesterday of Mrs. Jane Saulbrey, aged 84, wife of Mr. Henry John Saulbrey. Mrs. Saulbrey was born in Ireland and went to Australia in 1877. She .married Mr. Saulbrey in Sydney. Arriving in New Zealand in 1880, Mr. and Mrs. Saulbrey lived in Auckland, but moved to Ngaruawahia a year later. Thov carried on farming for over 50 years. Mrs. Saulbrey was keenly interested in botany and horticulture. Besides Mr. Saulbrey, she is survived by a son and two daughters. There are six grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. MR. T. M. TOWKE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTOHUBCH, Thursday The life of Mr. 'Thomas Morgan Fowke, which ended to-day death at the- age of 90 years, was closely associated with the development of railway travel in Pfew r ,Zealand from the very earliest days. He joined the service in 1866, and retired in 1906, and two of his surviving sons, as well .as a son-in-law, are on superannuation after 40 years' service with the department. He was given the position as porter on the Canterbury railway in [ 1866, and 10 years later was promoted to the rank of guard.
