SUCCESSFUL DANCE
HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL
OLD PUPILS' ASSOCIATION THIRD ANNUAL FUNCTION The third annual ball of the Hamilton High School Old Girls' Association, held 011 Monday night in the school assembly hall, attracted a very large attendance. The association colours of red and black were prominent in the artistic decorative scheme, tubs containing branches of large red flowers being placed about the walls, while overhead were shades bearing the monogram of the association, surmounted by the shields.
The banner of the association was hung at the back of the stage, which had been converted into a lounge. Bowls of autumn foliage completed the decorative scheme.
In the supper room bowls of camellias and .chrysanthemums were placed at each end of the room, and red banners with black shields extended along the walls. The tables, were bright with Iceland poppies in shades of gold and orange. Members oi the Committee . The ladies' committee comprised:— Mrs. A. H. Piper, who wore a frock of deep rose brocade; Mrs. A. P. Nelson, cedar brown cloque; Miss Edna Bennett, rose crepe faille; Miss D. Clegg, hydrangea blue taffetas; Miss P. Seccombe, rose tulip taffetas; Miss M. Beckett, bronze windswept satin; Miss P. Pratt, black chiffon velvet and georgette tunic frock; Miss M. Gwynne, primrose ring velvet; Miss D. Rogerson, ivory souple satin with a gold bolero; Miss D. Downes, lilac tulip taffetas. The debutantes were presented to the hostesses, Mrs. H. D. Tait, wife of the acting-headmaster, and Mrs. C. Browne, president of the association. Mrs. Tait's frock was of clover suede embroidered with sequins in midnight blue, and Mrs. Browne was in deep burgundy chiffon velvet swathed in royal blue. The debutantes were: —Miss N. Phillips (Te Puke), who wore a frock of white embossed taffetas; Miss B. St. Clair, ivory georgette over taffetas; Miss P. Kear r ivory marquisette and taffetas; Miss M. Holmes (Cambridge), ivory taffetas; Miss K. Phillips, ivory cloque; Miss M. Shaw (Ohaupo), white Chantilly lace; Miss J. Thompson, white net redingote over white satin; Miss 0.
