CHIEF mOT RESIGNS | COMMANDER B. A. BLYTHE DEPARTURE FOR ENGLAND After being engaged for two years as chief pilot of Union Airways of New Zealand, Limited, Commander Bi -A. Blythe resigned recently. He sailed from Auckland last night by/the Doric Star for London, where he will take jip another aviation position. Mrs. Blythe went to England in January. Commander Blythe is an old Auckland Grammar School pupil. He was at the Grammar School in 1928, and "for a time lived at Great Barrier Island. He later went to England and obtained a commission in the Royal Air Force, afterward joining Jersey Airways as a commercial pilot. . When the Union Airways services were started, Commander Blythe was engaged, to come to New Zealand as chief pilot, which position he held until his retirement. Although Siill in his twenties, he has had consderable flying experience, particularly with the type of monoplanes used in the North Island airways services. Commander Blythe's successor in Union Airways is Commander A. G. Gerrand, who has been appointed service manager for the company, with headquarters at Palmerston North.
