"OUT OF STEP AT GENEVA"

Sir, —"W.R.5.0." asks for suggestions for righting the first wrong to Abyssinia or preventing its recurrence. My suggestion is that the peace-loving nations should stand by the Covenant of the League of Nations and support each other against aggression. The nations desiring peace far outnumber the would-be aggressors, and they could readily protect themselves by united effort. Each breach of the covenant tempts the robber nation to offend yet again. The issue of June 6 containing the letter from "W.P.5.0." to which 1 have just referred rontains the report of a speech by Mr. Woodring, Secretary of War to the United States Government, in which he contends that post-war aggression is the direct consequence of the success of Japan in setting up the State of Manehukuo without effective opposition from the democratic Powers. In the same issue Mr. Anthony Eden is reported as saying tli at merely to give way to the aggressor is not enough to secure peace. Fair Play.
