NGATEA REQUESTS
GRANT FOR A DOMAIN BETTER TELEPHONE SERVICE [TIT TFXEGBAFH —OWN* CORRESPONDENT] NGATEA, Wednesday A public meeting is to be held at Ngatea to draw up representations to tho Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, under the Physical Welfare Act, to grant an area for a domain at Ngatea. When the Hauraki Plains were surveyed before, settlement domains were reserved at Turua, Kerepeehi, Pipiroa and Waitakaruru, but evidently no township was expected to rise at Ngatea. A small area for tennis is the only one the town possesses.
Another matter at present the subject of a petition is a request to tho Postmaster-General, the Hon. F. Jones, for a 24 hours' telephone service at Ngatea, with the centralisation of all lines. At present there, are exchanges at Turua, Ngatea and Waitakaruru.
