PROPOSED LEGISLATION -only' the initial step2 [BY TELEGRAPH PBESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Tuesday "It might not go as far as you would like it to go, but this is only the initial step," the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, said to-day when speaking at the annual conference of the Otago provincial council of the Farmers' Union on the Government's proposed national health scheme. "No doubt you will feel inclined to criticiso at this conference, but I ask you to wait until the legislation is brought down before you do criticise," the Minister continued. "I think it will prove to be one of the best insurance schemes in the world, and I repeat that this legislation will be only the initial step."
