AMBULANCE SERVICE
ARRANGEMENTS AT THAMES ST. JOHN TO TAKE OVER The ambulance service of the Thames hospital district, comprising the counties of Coromandel, Ohinemuri, Thames and Hauraki, is to bo conducted by tho St. John Ambulance Association, as the result of negotiations which have been completed between the Auckland centre of tho association and the Thames Hospital Board. One of tho ambulances at present in use in Auckland will be employed at Thames and a new vehicle will replace it at the headquarters of the centre.
With its territory covering 25,000 square miles in tho Auckland Province, tho association will now have a fleet of 22 ambulances. Two are stationed at Whangarei and at Hamilton, while there is ono vehicle at Northern Wairoft and Dargavillo, Te Aroha, Cambridge, Rotorua, Gisborne and Taumarunui. Tho headquarters in Auckland possess a staff of 21 nurses and ambulauce officers.
